By EMS Lieutenant Andrew Spalding
May 21, 2007

On May 16th, 2007 at approx 00:30 hours, Station 14 was alerted for a report of a house fire in the 10000 block of Venus Road in Newburg. Engine 143 quickly responded with 5 personnel, shortly followed by Engine 141 with 3 personnel, Chief 14 and Ambulance 149. While enroute, communications advised units responding that there was one subject possibly still in the residence, not trapped, and that the whole roof was on fire. 143 arrived on scene of Sides "A" and "D" confirming a working single family house fire. Chief 14 arrived on scene and advised to start the working fire assignment, and assumed the Venus Road Command. Chief 14-A also held operations. Shortly after arriving on scene, and after performing a quick primary search, it was determined that all occupants were outside of the residence. 141 was directed to establish a water supply in Cliffton, 102 picked up Engine 143's line and established the water supply. Truck 1 performed vetilations and gave lighting, Squad 2 assisted with lights and fans. The crews operated on scene for approx. 3 hours before clearing. Many thanks to all units operating on scene for a job well done, and also to the Fill In crew for filling our quarters.
