At approximately 0758 hours Engine Company 14 was alerted to the reported house fire at 12970 West Hatton Road. Engine 143 responded with 4 and Chief 14A (S.Shifflett) and arrived on the scene with nothing evident. Engine 61 picked up Eng. 143's line at the end of the driveway and all other units staged. The crews from both engines investigated the odor of smoke in the residence and found the cause to be a malfunctioning furnace. Chief 14A advised the homeowner of the malfuntioning furnace and units returned to service at around 0838 hours.
