July 28, 2012

On July 28, 2012 at approximately 14:38, Company 14 was alerted for a brush fire at Budds Creek Road and Plantation Drive. Engine 144 and Rescue Engine responded. Charles County Communications advised of a transformer and downed power lines being involved. With the new information and more incoming 911 calls, Chief 10A responded along with B-10. Chief 10A arrived on the scene along with E144 and E104 to find an electrical transformer on fire, which had sparked a brush fire involving large trees and bordering a large field. Chief 10A requested an additional engine, bringing RE141 and E102 for additional manpower. All units staged until SMECO arrived on scene and secured the power. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and units remained on the scene for 35 minutes hitting hot spots.
