February 3, 2009

At 0247 hours units on the westside of the county were dispatched for a house fire at 6925 Ralph D Meyers Place (Bryans Road) with reported fire in the attic. First arriving units reported fire through the roof and began requesting additional resources. Chief 11A arrived on the scene and established the Meyers Place Command. At 0345 hours Station 14 was dispatched for the fill-in at Potomac Heights VFD Co. 7, Engine 143 proceeded with 4 personel while leaving a second crew at the station to protect the southside. While enroute to station 7, command requested additional engines to respond on the fire to assist with water supply bringing 143 to the scene. Intially Engine 143 was sent to the bank on Marshalls Corner Road to set up a fill site for the tankers, after filling a few tankers Water Supply (Capt. 20) sent 143 to assist Engine 82 at the entrance to Strawberry Hills to set up a more efficient fill site with LDH hose. After 82's fill site was set up Command requested for the crew to report to the scene to assist crews operating inside. The crew caught a ride from a CCSO officer to the scene and began overhaul on the second floor of the structure, with assistance from the crews off of Engine 61 and Tanker 1, 143 was able to perform extensive overhaul to the second floor. Engine 143 was released by command and returned to service after helping 82 pick up at the fill site. While returning from the fireground 143 ran a subject not breathing in LaPlata and returned to quarters around 0800 hours.
