By Firefighter/EMT Jeff Hammett
November 11, 2008

At 1626 hours Engine Company 14 was alerted to the 9600 block of Terri Drive in Mattingly for the investigation of a CO Detector sounding in the residence. Engine 143 responded with 6 volunteers with the Sergeant. E-143 arrived on the scene and was advised by the homeowner that the detector had been sounding all day and she was feeling ill. E-143 then requested for an ALS unit to respond to the scene. As the crew began to investigate, the CO detector was found to be out of service, E-143 then requested a special service to respond for its meter. Rescue Engine 13 from LaPlata responded on the call. After metering the house it was found that the cause was a malfuntioning CO detector in the residence, the homeowner signed a release and was advised to replace the detector. Units cleared at 1722 hours.
