National Boat Safety Week

As we get ready for the start of Summer and Memorial Day Weekend coming up, it’s important to remember Boating Safety while out enjoy your time on the Potomac. This week, May 17-May 23, is National Safe Boating Week.

The National Safe Boating Council shares boating safety tips on their website to include the following:
• Wear a life jacket
• Know state boating laws
• Take a boating safety course
• Make sure your boat is prepared
• Check the weather, including the water temperature
• Dress properly
• Always file a float plan
• Use an engine cut-off switch
• Always follow navigation rules
• Don’t drink while you boat
• Beware of carbon monoxide poisoning
• Keep in touch
