Busy day for Newburg Volunteers

On Feb 13, 2014 all of Southern Maryland was hit by a winter storm. At approx. 16:36 hrs, Station 14 was alerted for an MVA with one person trapped. Engine 143 arrived on scene and confirmed one patient trapped and wires down and involved. Engine 143 had the Budds Creek Rd Command until the arrival of Chief 10. The crews from Engine 143, Squad 10 and St. Mary's Squad 2 worked to extricate the patient, which was handled by PA148. While operating on the scene, Communications advised Command they needed Squad 10 and Engine 143 if available for another MVA with 2 peeople reported trapped. Engine 143 cleared the first call and went en route to the 2nd call at Charles St/Trinity Church Rd. Engine 143 was placed in service prior to arrival by the Command.

Thanks to Engine 22 for filling our quarters.

About an hour after we got back to the station, many calls were dispatched for reported trees down and wires down. Crews worked all throughout the night until Friday Feb 14, 2014 at 01:30 am to assist those is need.
