May 10, 2017

On Friday April 28th, Saturday April 29th and Sunday April 30th, 2017 the Newburg Volunteers headed to Potomac Heights VFD and EMS and the Huntingtown VFD in Calvert County for the events of the Annual Installation of the Ladies Auxiliary to the SMVFA and 70th Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention. Members participated in various activities such as the dinner and swearing in ceremony of the LASMVFA, Memorial Service for our fallen brothers and sisters of the Fire/EMS Service for the SMVFA (including Life Member and Past EMS Assistant Chief Mary Kay Waugh), the annual meeting and election of officers where our EMS Chief, Andrew Spalding, was elected to the office of 1st Vice President of the SMVFA, and the parade / activities of Sunday! Many organizations won trophies (including our own which won Third Best Appearing Engine for Engine 143), many were nominated and awarded with service, citation, and honorary awards, and had a great time! Good luck to all of the officers of the SMVFA and the LASMVFA for a successful upcoming year! Visit www.smvfa.net for the full story!
